I am a dually board-certified psychiatric mental health and family nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience in acute and chronic care patient management. My passion for mental wellness started during the isolation period of Covid 19. That isolation affected everyone in different ways but it especially affected individuals' mental health which further exacerbated many chronic and debilitating illnesses. I have a deep understanding of how the mind and body relate. You will never find optimal wellness until every aspect of your mind, body, and spirit is working together. I understand firsthand the balancing act of maintaining your own needs while managing a career, continuing your education, raising children, being a supportive spouse, and caring for aging parents. I am very empathetic and will actively listen to your needs. We will work together to come up with the best treatment strategy

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session I really want to get a deep understanding of your past traumas and how it affects your current situation, past treatments, current treatments, goals, obstacles, and your support systems.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been a nurse more than half of my life. I have spent many hours sitting at the bedside of patients just listening to their concerns and even crying with them at times. As a mother and a caretaker of aging parents, I understand how important it is not to feel rushed during your appointment, not made to feel like just another number, not to have to wait in a waiting room for 2 hours to see your provider, how important it is to feel heard and most importantly to feel like your provider cares. I am highly empathetic and I want to walk along side of you throughout your journey to find optimal wellness.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I specialize in anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I can relate to first-line responders, parents, spouses, mothers, caretakers, students, and teenagers.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that focuses on changing thinking patterns to help people cope with difficult situations. They can include questionnaires to help identify problems and symptoms, setting goals for therapy, learning problem-solving skills to identify and evaluate potential solutions to problems, practicing these skills, and receiving feedback. I have over 20 years in acute and primary care settings implementing these techniques.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing (MI) is a counseling technique that helps people find the motivation to change their behavior. It's often used when a patient is resistant to treatment, such as when they're unprepared to make life changes or are initially resistant to starting a treatment program. MI can be used to address a wide range of concerns. I have over 20 years in acute and primary care settings implementing these techniques.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a humanistic therapy that helps people identify strengths and create strategies to overcome challenges. SFBT focuses on the future, asking clients to imagine how their lives would be without their problems or concerns. I have over 20 years in acute and primary care settings implementing these techniques.
