Congratulations on taking the first step towards prioritizing your mental health and wellbeing. Finding the right provider is paramount to your therapeutic success. In any professional relationship, it is crucial to find "your person". Think about your hair stylist or barber, you wouldn't go to just anyone; the same idea applies for your mental health providers. I feel honored to be a part of the healing process that comes along with helping my clients reach their full potential. My ideal client is someone who is motivated to dive deep into self-discovery with my guidance. Learning more about oneself is the magic ingredient in a successful counseling outcome. My areas of expertise are working with teens and adults with anxiety, depression, grief or loss, life transitions, and family conflict. All too often in our society, our pets are unrecognized as a loss. As a fur mama I am here to tell you, they are significant losses. A few other major, overlooked losses I like to shine light on are ended relationships, miscarriages, loss of health and/or abilities. Therapy can significantly help in your healing process. You deserve to be happy and feel like you again.
You can expect a judgment-free environment where you will feel the ease of talking with an old friend once we get to know one another. Unlike a conversation with a beloved family member or friend, our sessions will be conversations that are completely centered around your wellbeing and healing. I will help you move in the direction of healing with techniques individually designed for you based on your personality type and strengths. After we have worked together for a while, you will gain more clarity into what works for you and the resources you can pull from on your own.
My theoretical orientation is an eclectic approach of various Evidenced-based treatments including Gestalt, Cognitive Behavioral, and Person-Centered Therapy. At the core of my treatment process is a non-judgemental disposition where my clients feel valued and safe.
My own experience with trauma and traumatic loss gives me the increased insight and passion to work with those experiencing emotional pain related to trauma and grief. While no two people will ever experience the same thing, I believe my personal experience gives me both confidence and intuition to help better serve my clients. I have strategies that help enable the healing process while honoring the unique circumstances of each person I work with. I am a culturally competent counselor, and I love learning about cultures, traditions and experiences of others. Operating from a multicultural lens helps me put myself in my clients' shoes allowing me to gain a complete picture of their experiences.
