Hi there! I’m Vivian, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California. I’m really glad you're here. It takes courage to seek change, and I’m here to support you in navigating this process. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially with all the societal and cultural expectations around us. Together, we’ll navigate those feelings and work towards a clearer understanding of what you value. My approach is all about collaboration and respect for your unique story. We’ll find ways to address the challenges you face while embracing who you are. Whether you’re feeling stuck or just looking for growth, I’m here to support you every step of the way. I look forward to working with you!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we'll start with getting to know each other and identifying your motivating factors for initiating therapy. This will help us come up with a plan to lead us to your goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I understand that anxiety, depression, and trauma can heavily influence your emotional and mental well-being. I am trauma-informed and prioritize creating a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered to work through these challenges. Whether you’re struggling with overwhelming emotions, feeling stuck, or working through past trauma, I’m here to help you regain control and confidence. My genuine curiosity helps me connect with people from all backgrounds, and I provide direct, honest feedback to help you achieve your goals.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I specialize in supporting individuals going through life transitions, whether it’s a career change, relationship shift, or other major life event. These experiences can feel even more complex when layered with cultural expectations or family dynamics. I offer a safe, culturally responsive space to explore these challenges and help you develop the tools you need to adjust and thrive. In addition to life transitions, I also work with individuals who may experience difficulties with social skills or executive functioning, including those on the Autism spectrum or with ADHD. Together, we can focus on building communication strategies, strengthening emotional regulation, improving organization and time management, and fostering meaningful, authentic connections—all while honoring your unique cultural background and lived experiences.

My treatment methods

Relational

We are constantly navigating all types of relationships and interactions in our daily lives. I will support you in recognizing how these relationships influence your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By examining the dynamics of your interactions (whether with family, friends, colleagues, or even within yourself), we can uncover patterns that may be affecting your mental well-being.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

If you’re feeling helpless and asking, "what's the point?" I’m here to help. Through Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we’ll focus on acknowledging and accepting your thoughts and feelings rather than avoiding them. By openly exploring these emotions, we can better understand them and identify actions that align with your core values. Together, we’ll create a path toward a more meaningful life, even amidst uncertainty.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

As a first generation Asian American woman, I understand the complexities of navigating two cultures and the impact this can have on mental health. My background allows me to appreciate the traditions and values that shape our identities. In our sessions, I’ll create a safe space for you to share your experiences related to cultural expectations, family dynamics, or personal identity. Together, we’ll explore how your cultural background informs your journey, and I’ll tailor my approach to align with your values. My goal is to empower you to embrace your identity while fostering healing and growth.

I appreciate how Vivian offers solutions that are driven to have long term effects. Vivian looks deep into issues and tries to address all angles and subissues I bring up. I appreciate how Vivian is able to bring in life experience of their own to assist in mine. I genuinely feel Vivian's advice is to genuinely reach the person rather than to communicate only. Thank you for hiring Vivian!
