Hi! My name is Makaila. I am an LMHC in the state of Massachusetts. I have my master's degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johnson & Wales and have been practicing therapy since 2019! I have experience working with many different populations and a variety of mental health disorders. I often use CBT, DBT, and person-centered therapy. Therapy has been important to my own personal growth and I'm looking forward to helping others have the same experience.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I will gather necessary required information. After this is complete, we will spend the remainder of the session talking about anything you think is additionally important for me to know about you! Upon completion of our first session, you will have identified goals that you would like to work on in our following sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am very empathetic, passionate, and knowledgeable. Having worked with a wide range of individuals in the past has made it so that I am culturally sensitive to the individuals that I work with. I understand that there are many factors involved in getting an individual to grow that are outside of their own personal power.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is one of the most utilized treatments for many types of mental health disorders. I often use CBT to help clients understand the interaction between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is often used to treat anxiety, depression, and certain personality disorders. DBT is a great alternative to CBT and helps individuals learn to deal with intense emotions by learning coping skills.

Family Therapy

Many families struggle with basic communication. Family therapy helps bring families closer together by being able to openly express their feelings and needs with a mediator. I have been practicing family-based therapy since 2020.
