In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, clients can expect to start by discussing their reasons for seeking therapy and sharing some background about their experiences and current concerns. We’ll also discuss your goals for therapy and begin to establish a plan tailored to your needs. My focus will be on creating a safe and supportive environment where you feel comfortable and understood, and we’ll work together to set the foundation for our future sessions.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Assessment and Planning: Before starting EMDR, it’s crucial to conduct a thorough assessment to understand the client’s history, current issues, and suitability for EMDR. This helps in creating a tailored treatment plan. Safety and Stabilization: Ensuring the client has adequate coping mechanisms and emotional resources before diving into EMDR is essential. This phase includes teaching self-soothing techniques and establishing a sense of safety. Processing: During the actual EMDR sessions, the therapist facilitates the bilateral stimulation while the client focuses on the targeted memory. The therapist’s role is to guide the process, ensure the client is processing effectively, and address any difficulties that arise. Support and Integration: After processing traumatic memories, it’s important to support the client in integrating the new insights and beliefs into their daily life. This involves reinforcing positive changes and addressing any ongoing challenges. Ongoing Evaluation: Regularly evaluating the progress and effectiveness of EMDR is important. This ensures that the treatment remains responsive to the client’s needs and adjusts the approach if necessary. EMDR can be a powerful tool for healing trauma, but it’s essential that it’s applied by trained professionals who can handle the complexities of trauma and ensure a safe and supportive environment for clients.
