I am a dedicated and experienced mental health professional, currently a Ph.D. candidate in Marriage, Family, and Couples Therapy. I hold an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from NOVA Southeastern University and am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of Florida. With over ten years of experience, I specialize in helping clients navigate depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, marital issues, behavioral problems, lifestyle changes, and addictions. Fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi, I ensure effective communication and cultural competence in my practice. My approach is rooted in empathy, professionalism, and pragmatism, recognizing that healing is a collaborative effort that thrives in an environment of authentic care and non-judgment. I develop personalized treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each client, integrating various therapeutic methods to provide practical and impactful solutions. My goal is to help clients achieve lasting positive change and improve their overall well-being.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In their first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we lay the foundation for our therapeutic relationship. We will start with introductions to get to know each other, which helps build rapport and establish a comfortable atmosphere. Clients will have the opportunity to share their stories, discuss the issues they are experiencing, and express their goals for therapy, allowing me to understand their unique circumstances and needs. I will gather information about the client’s personal history, including any relevant medical, psychological, and social background, which may involve discussing past experiences, current stressors, and overall mental health. I will explain how therapy works, including the therapeutic methods I use, the structure of our sessions, and what clients can expect from the process. We will also discuss confidentiality and address any questions the client may have about therapy. Together, we will outline initial goals and expectations for therapy through a collaborative approach, ensuring that the client’s needs and objectives are prioritized. Based on the information shared, I will begin to develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to the client’s specific needs and circumstances, with the flexibility to adapt as we progress. If appropriate, I may suggest some initial steps or homework for the client to work on between sessions, such as self-reflection exercises, journaling, or practical strategies to start addressing their concerns. Overall, the first session is an opportunity for clients to feel heard, understood, and supported as we embark on their therapeutic journey together.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

As a mental health counselor, I use diverse treatment methods to meet the unique needs of my clients. I employ Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for depression, anxiety, and PTSD. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, I utilize Trauma-Focused Therapy, including EMDR and TF-CBT, for trauma recovery. I incorporate Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) to improve emotional regulation and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to enhance emotion management and interpersonal skills. Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) foster empowerment and commitment to change. I use Family Systems Therapy to improve communication and resolve conflicts for couples and families. Behavioral Activation helps clients engage in meaningful activities, and Psychoeducation informs them about their conditions and treatment options. I ensure culturally sensitive care because I am fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi. By integrating these methods, I tailor my approach to each client's needs for a personalized and practical therapeutic experience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, I believe my greatest strengths lie in empathy and compassion, cultural competence, a personalized approach, experience and expertise, a collaborative style, pragmatic solutions, and respect and professionalism. I genuinely care about my clients and strive to create a supportive and non-judgmental environment where they feel heard and understood, fostering a strong therapeutic alliance crucial for effective therapy. Fluent in English, Urdu, and Punjabi, I am well-equipped to work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, respecting and understanding their unique cultural contexts, which enhances treatment effectiveness. I do not adhere to a one-size-fits-all methodology; instead, I develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's specific needs, ensuring the therapeutic process is relevant and practical. With over ten years of experience and specialized certifications as a Clinical Trauma Professional and an Anxiety Treatment Professional, I bring a wealth of knowledge and skills to my practice, effectively addressing a wide range of issues, from depression and anxiety to PTSD and ADHD. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients, setting achievable goals, and developing strategies that integrate seamlessly into their daily lives, empowering them to take an active role in their healing and growth.
