Hello! My name is Myesha Suckra-Dorbu and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the State of Florida. I received my Master's from Nova Southeastern University in South Florida and have been practicing for 4 years. I see clients 15 years old and older in person and via Telehealth. I help clients work through anxiety, depression, life transitions, Trauma, and Self-esteem issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first mental health therapy appointment is typically an intake session. We will start with introductions and I will ask questions about the client's symptoms, medical history, personal background, coping skills, and support system. I will use this information to develop a treatment plan tailored to the client's specific needs. I will also review practice policies and answer any questions the client may have.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are my diverse perspective and ability to connect with clients from different backgrounds. My experience in communication, education, and lived experiences helps me understand and empathize with my clients on a deeper level. My ability to work with college students, young professionals, and professionals in general is also an asset. By tailoring my approach to each client's unique needs, I can help them feel heard, understood, and supported.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT focuses on changing negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to a person's mental health issues. It helps my clients identify negative or distorted thoughts and replace them with positive and rational ones. CBT is goal-oriented and typically short-term, to help clients learn coping skills that they can use in their daily lives. This method can be used to treat a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, among others.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-centered therapy emphasizes the importance of the client's perspective and experience. I create a non-judgmental and empathetic environment where my client feels heard, understood, and accepted. The goal of person-centered therapy is to help my clients develop a stronger sense of self and to become more self-aware. I act as a facilitator, encouraging clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. I use Person-centered therapy to treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues, as well as to help individuals improve their self-esteem and relationships.
