As we move through life, we all face difficult experiences, some of which last with us long after they have already happened. You are not alone. Having a space to understand how our past experiences may be impacting who you are today and who you want to become can be an immensely healing and rewarding experience. When working with me, we will work in a collaborative environment to help you understand and grow as a person in a way that is true to who you are.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect when we first meet that we will explore their presenting problem (or reason for why you are reaching out to me in the first place), background information about what has led to the presenting problem, general questions about your own background from the context of past relationships, whether they be your family, friends, romantic partners, co-workers, whoever feels relevant to you and your life. Finally, I will also discuss general rules related to confidentiality, informed consent for treatment in therapy, and how the process will work with Grow Therapy specifically.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I try to be supportive and empathic with every client I work with, trying to maintain a safe, caring space for each person to express what may be happening in their lives. I strive to be thoughtful with each client I work with and try to make therapy as individualized as possible.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

I utilize Psychodynamic psychotherapy in my practice to try and answer the question of "why do I continue to do what I am doing, even if it is no longer working for me?" By understanding ourselves in a deeper, more genuine manner, we are able to recognize the reasons for why we do things we do, and ultimately, how to make a different choice. Often, we are falling into repeated patterns of behavior without consciously realizing it. Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps individuals recognize how our unconscious thoughts and feelings lead to conscious feelings and behaviors.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

By understanding the concrete patterns of behavior, we can start to identify the "core belief", or thoughts you may have about yourself deeper down, and how that continues to drive choices you make in your life. Through concrete and concise skills, we can alter the choices we make on a consistent basis, leading to changes that we can see in our lives on a daily basis.

Existential

Some people come to therapy asking the question "What is the point to all of this?", "Does my life have meaning?" and even "Is this how I want to continue to live my life?" Existential psychotherapy is about exploring the intersection between finding purpose in our lives and wanting to make the most of the life we have. If this is something that interests you, or even curious about, our work together will be continuing to ask the question "How do I make my life matter?" At the end of the day, I genuinely believe that we all want our lives to have meaning, but it can be difficult to understand what that is and what that means.
