Being rooted in traditionalism, with exposure to the modern, has allowed me to be open to learning about life in new, non-traditional ways. My open mindedness later in life helped me to embrace the process of learning and to be more comfortable with the journey of shifts and transitions that we all go through in life. Through this process I have sought and embraced new paths, which allows me to connect with both young people and adults. I am a licensed clinical social worker with 25 years’ experience supporting, empowering, and teaching both children and adults. My primary focus has been working with children and adults who have experienced traumas/adversities and difficulty managing emotions, anxiety, depression, stress, and parenting challenges. I also provide couples’ therapy for those looking to strengthen or rebuild their connection through improved communication and conflict resolution.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In therapy, I work to build a connection thus creating an environment of trust and acceptance where you can talk openly and honestly without judgment. You can expect to create an alliance with someone who is relatable and empathetic. In cultivating your strengths, I will help you navigate through life with a new perspective and new tools to achieve peace, resilience, hope, and fulfilling relationships.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Therapy is more than talk. It is action as well. My approach is to create a therapeutic relationship to understand your needs, values, and desired outcomes. I assist clients in gaining insight and awareness and learning to confront and overcome adversities, to improve mood, to manage emotions & behaviors, and to improve communication and connection in relationship through evidence-based practices, such as TF-CBT, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and the Gottman Method for couple's counseling. Since practice makes proficient, I provide weekly activities to implement the skills learned in therapy, so they become natural and habitual.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Throughout the years I became skilled at helping individuals to understand the triggers to their feelings of discomfort and develop skills to manage symptoms of depression, anxiety, and grow in understanding of trauma responses. I have also helped families and couples come together and grow in understanding, communication, and conflict resolution.
