Hi! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Florida. I received my Master of Social Work from the University Of Southern California with a primary focus in Children, Youth, and Families. I chose this focus because I believe every aspect of the family is important from the initial couple to the family with children.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will have introductions, getting to know one another, and then, as you feel comfortable, you can describe to me what you have been feeling and thinking and how you may want to change that. I will help you by discussing how I usually work with clients and we both can agree on whether you feel comfortable with the way ahead.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked directly with people most of my life and as a therapist for the last seven years, I've learned that the most important part of therapy is to listen to the client. I listen. I provide feedback and challenge my clients to take just one more step that will help them reach the goals they have set for themselves.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I frequently use this with clients to help them accept their thoughts as just that, thoughts. I want my clients to be fully present in their lives so that they can experience life and commit to taking action. If they are not completely comfortable taking immediate action, they should know that commitment to doing something with some doubt or fear is okay, but the goal is to take action.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This therapy is used to help those who are entrenched in negative thinking and need to reverse their thought process. I help them realize how their thoughts affect their feelings and then their actions and how the cycle continues until they choose to change it. We talk about replacing the negative thoughts with positive thoughts which then leads to better feelings and so on...

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I use CPT with those who have experienced trauma and who do not wish to relive the trauma but who instead want to work on how to think differently about how the trauma has affected the way they process life in certain areas such as trust and power and control. People often do not realize how they have compartmentalized their feelings and reactions to certain stimuli until they begin writing or talking about it.

Couples Counseling

I enjoy counseling couples and use several different methods of counseling them as each couple is different and may need a slightly different approach.

Family Therapy

I use family therapy when there is an identified patient who needs assistance from all personnel to make a better unit or when the entire family could use a little tweaking in communication, which is most times the case.
