Hello, my name is Jenna Bekier. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the states of California and Florida, and have been practicing for 8 years. I received my Bachelors in Psychology from SUNY New Paltz (native New Yorker!) and Masters in Social Work at Florida Atlantic University. My clinical experience includes providing individual, group and family therapy in private practice, CMH, and residential-based treatment for teens with involvement in the foster and juvenile justice system.
During our first session, you can expect a warm welcome and a space aimed at helping us to get to know one another. I will ask about your experiences and challenges that brought you to therapy, and work together with you to explore what goals you want to focus on and outcomes you'd like to achieve. This will be an opportunity for you to learn more about my approach in therapy and for us to begin building our therapeutic relationship with one another.
As a clinician, I feel my greatest strengths lie in bringing a collaborative approach to the therapy space, and promoting empowerment and choice at each step of the way. I value vulnerability, playfulness and authenticity in the work I do with my clients, and help them feel safe to share all parts of themselves.
I am passionate about working with transitional age youth (TAY) and young adults. I specialize in helping individuals who are struggling with their sense of worth and value, healing from complex trauma, and going through painful transitions or periods of uncertainty in their lives. My approach in therapy is eclectic and trauma-informed, drawing from styles such as IFS, CBT, DBT, Somatic therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion.
I feel passionate about using Internal Family Systems in my practice to support my clients in understanding their inner worlds and all aspects of themselves with more clarity, compassion and confidence. IFS is an effective approach to helping clients process through trauma, self doubt, and challenging life circumstances. I have received by IFS Level 1 Therapist Training with the Internal Family Systems Institute.
I have a post-masters certification in CBT, and have been using this treatment modality effectively for years. CBT is a foundational tool that I use to help clients, especially those new to therapy, to broaden their awareness of their thought patterns, negative core beliefs and deeply held biases. Through this awareness comes the capacity for change, growth and adaptation.
I enjoy utilizing DBT skills in my work with clients to support them in developing tools that support them in regulating their emotions, facing stressful situations or relational problems more effectively, and practicing mindfulness.
I operate from a strengths-based, mindful self-compassion lens with my clients. I firmly believe that there are "no bad parts" of a person, and we can all benefit from showing ourselves and others compassion.
