Congratulations on prioritizing yourself and taking the first step toward change. It can be daunting to find a therapist, but the right one can empower you to create and sustain the life that you deserve. I'm Shirley, a licensed professional counselor in Virginia, and I work with adults across the lifespan, focusing on women's health and wellness. Challenges such as infertility, postpartum depression or anxiety, life transitions, and work-related concerns can lead to stress, burnout, or worse. I provide a safe, supportive, culturally humble, and inclusive environment to work through these issues with empathy and purpose.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be spent reviewing your history as well as what brought you to therapy. You are the expert on your life and I will meet you where you are at and then partner with you step by step to establish your goals. I will also answer any questions you may have and together we will start working on creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs. My hope is that you will feel supported and empowered to accomplish more than you ever thought possible, as soon as our very first session together.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been described as genuine, warm, supportive, and caring. My clients have also shared with me that I am a clear communicator, that they appreciate my honest feedback, and that they have learned lifelong skills, such as how to set and enforce boundaries and how to advocate for themselves, through our work together. My goal is for each one of my clients to feel seen, validated, and supported while they work on changing their lives in therapy.
