Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Paula and I'm a licensed mental health counselor based in Florida. I have 20 years of combined experience as a therapist and school counselor, working with various populations. I have a diverse background in clients I've worked with, including people who have experienced loss, crisis, depression, anxiety, relationship troubles as well as life transitions. Depending on your goals and needs in therapy, I strive to provide the right tools to help you become the best possible version of yourself and create a life of contentment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients often tell me how relieved they feel after our first session, having had the chance to connect with someone who cares and is dedicated to helping them in their struggles. In our first session, I would take the time to get to know you and who you are as an individual, as well as the specific challenges you're facing. I would also answer any questions you might have, especially if you're new to therapy. This will help us create a tailored plan to work on in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a therapist lies in the care and respect I have for you as an individual. I listen without judgment while providing a space where you can feel safe, supported, and heard. I have a down to earth approach in working with people so that they feel comfortable and not intimidated by therapy.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I find a person-centered approach to be the most important aspect in working with individuals. I always strive to bring compassion, empathy and listening without judgement. I respect all individuals and where they are in their journey in life and in their healing.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

One of the benefits of talking with a therapist is the opportunity for you to process your thoughts and feelings and how they relate to each other. Being able to self-reflect on these aspects of yourself and notice the influence they have on each other, can be a key catalyst in feeling better and creating a positive change in your life.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have a background in yoga, breathwork and mindfulness and feel that all of these can be extremely beneficial to people struggling with various challenges such as depression, anxiety, insomnia and stress. Applying certain mind-body techniques can often be what a person needs to feel more calm and able to see and process their struggles from a more grounded perspective.
