Hello and welcome to my page! My name is Paula and I'm a licensed mental health counselor serving individuals virtually in Florida and Massachusetts. I have 20 years of combined experience as a therapist and school counselor, working with various populations. I work with people struggling with grief, depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship problems as well as life transitions. I have extensive experience working with teens and young adults who are having difficulty adjusting to life transitions, peer and relationship troubles, difficulty with boundaries and low self-esteem, as well as career and academic stress. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), a modality that can gently release trauma and anxiety in as little as one session. Depending on your goals and needs in therapy, I strive to provide the right tools to help you become the best possible version of yourself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My clients often tell me they feel comfortable talking with me and are able to open up freely about their struggles. In our first session, I would take the time to get to know you and answer any questions you might have, especially if you're new to therapy. This will help us create a tailored plan with goals to work on in follow-up sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I listen without judgment while providing a space where you can feel safe, supported, and heard. I have a down to earth approach in working with people so that they feel comfortable and not intimidated by therapy.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My goal is to help individuals build their confidence and find and utilize their personal strength to bring about the changes they wish to see in themselves and their lives.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I utilize a person-centered approach in my counseling practice because I believe that creating a safe space to talk, where you are accepted for who you are, and where you are in your life, is one of the most important aspects of counseling.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With cognitive behavioral therapy, we examine how our thought patterns influence how we feel and behave, and how we approach our life and circumstances. Examining our core beliefs and challenging negative thoughts, has a direct impact on our outlook on life and how we face our obstacles. When we begin to change our inner dialogue, we start to see positive changes in our lives.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have a background in yoga, breathwork and mindfulness and feel that all of these can be extremely beneficial to people struggling with various challenges such as depression, anxiety, insomnia, attentional issues, and stress. Applying certain mind-body techniques can often be what a person needs to feel more calm and able to see and process their struggles from a more grounded perspective.
