Hello, I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in mental health and caring for those suffering from psychiatric disorders, mental illnesses, or emotional crises. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings like psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment facilities, outpatient clinics, and community programs. I use my clinical skills and training to assess, observe, and care for patients' overall psychiatric and medical needs, with the goal of helping patients cope with their condition and achieve stability and wellness.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

To be asked about their medical history and current health concerns in order to give me the context and help guide the plan of care. - To answer questions about lifestyle factors, medications, family history, and any other details that could impact health or treatment options. - To discuss potential diagnoses or reasons for their symptoms based on the information provided. - To receive explanations about recommended treatment options, whether that includes lifestyle changes, medications, referrals, etc. - To ask questions and have concerns addressed by the knowledgeable and approachable NP. - To schedule any needed follow-up appointments before leaving to continue addressing their health issue. The focus is on developing a treatment plan through open communication and addressing the client's needs at their initial meeting with the NP.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Compassion - The ability to connect with patients on a human level, understand what they are experiencing, and demonstrate genuine care and concern for their well-being and recovery. Active listening skills - Taking the time to fully hear patients' stories without judgment, to understand issues from their perspective, and to know when and how to provide support through both words and presence. Clinical expertise - Applying psychiatric nursing knowledge and years of experience working with patients to assess situations, develop treatment plans, administer appropriate care, and monitor for signs of improvement or worsening conditions. Attention to detail - Thoroughly observing and documenting patients' mental state, behaviors, self-care habits, and any other details that can provide valuable insight into their mental health and help the treatment team evaluate needs and progress over time. Crisis management - Remaining calm, de-escalating tension, and ensuring safety in challenging situations such as during episodes of distress, agitation, or acting out behaviors. Teamwork - Collaborating closely with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other staff to create a comprehensive and consistent treatment environment through open communication and coordination of care. Empathy - Using personal life experience and understanding of human emotions to relate to and support patients from a place of genuine empathy, patience, and hope.
