What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is devoted to listening to you and gathering information about your life history and situation. This is typically called an "in-take interview." My aim is to conceptualize an accurate picture of you in your current context. This will help me make an assessment, determine interventions, and help us create goals as a guide to make progress. Furthermore, my objective is to establish a working relationship or therapeutic alliance by engendering trust, empathy, safety, and unconditional acceptance.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My varied background and experiences have helped prepare me to support clients from multicultural backgrounds, including veterans. I have worked in different areas, such as community mental health, addiction treatment, veterans, trauma, couples issues, grief, loss, and life transitions. As a Person-Centered therapist, my goal is to listen with unconditional positive regard, accurate empathy, and nonjudgmentally. This aids the client in tapping into their own ability to grow and heal and discover their 'best-self.'
