Hi, welcome! My name is Koti. Do you feel weighed down and disconnected from your authentic self? Are you struggling to manage your emotions and navigate through life's challenges? I am a therapist of trans and familial mental illness experience. I empower and support individuals in the LGBTQIA2S+ community and your allies to better understand your worth, utilize your strengths and build skills to more effectively navigate challenges you face. Your lived experience is unique to you and we will take a look at how your experieces have contributed to the current issues you may be struggling with. We will address matters of your whole self (mind, body and spirit) as your physical, mental and emotional well-being are interconnected. I'll employ evidenced based techniques to help you look inward and identify your strengths to move you toward your goals. Whether your goals are around managing/coping with depression, anxiety, other mental illness, navigating life changes or coming out/ supporting a loved one who has recently come out, I am here to help. Reaching out and sharing intimate parts about yourself can be scary. The biggest thing I strive for is to create a safe space where you can authentically express yourself without fear of judgment. You are valid, loved and enough simply for being, YOU!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

After our initial intake appointment, we will work to further solidify your goals and understand what steps and changes need to take place for you to reach your target. I have always loved working and playing on teams and love to take a collaborative approach to understand what resonates and would help you be most successful. You will also take away a more empowered sense of self and ideally learn to have more self-love and compassion.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I employ techniques from Motivational Interviewing, CBT, ACT, mindfulness and strengths-based approaches. Your goals will be tailored to you and measurable. We will track your progress, identify and tackle barriers and find other opportunities for improvement utilizing handouts and other psycho-educational materials that are relevant to your situation and the improvements you are hoping to make.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My lived experience in the LGBTQIA2S+ community and having family members with mental illness allows me to have a better understanding of you and your challenges. Safety and a strong therapeutic relationship are crucial to your treatment which is why I take great care in cultivating a safe environment. It is such a gift to be able to sit with you and support you in better knowing yourself and reaching your goals. I take great pride in that. I have experience working with ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, LGBTQ+ issues, suicidal ideations, grief/loss, life transitions, work-related stress and self-esteem/performance-related issues.
