Hello! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I received my Masters from Simmons University and have been practicing for 6 years. I want to honor your courage and curiosity in taking this next step towards bettering your mental health. Life can bring waves of transition, many wonderful and empowering; others more difficult, scary, and confusing. I specialize and enjoy partnering with individuals to provide support and explore ways to improve quality of life for all through transitions such as (and not limited to) retirement, end of life, bereavement, change in independence, career exploration, caregiver stress, medical diagnosis, identity, and separation/divorce and the varied accompanying mental health symptoms (depression, anxiety, isolation, poor self-care). I offer a holistic and person-centered approach embracing empowerment, narratives, and strengths to rebalance joy and fulfillment as life transitions.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first therapy session, you can anticipate a non-judgmental, collaborative, and mindful approach. We will start with brief introductions, review informed consent, and then dive into specific challenges you’re facing. We will work collaboratively to create a tailored plan with goals and develop a strategy for follow-up sessions. Confidentiality: Your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. I strictly adhere to ethical guidelines and legal requirements to ensure your information remains secure and confidential.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a compassionate and dedicated therapist with a strong commitment to helping individuals to improve their mental health and well-being. I value a strong therapeutic relationship; one filled with trust, respect, open communication, accountability, and empathy. I pride my practice in collaboration and problem-solving through creativity, flexibility, and practicality. I’m committed to ongoing learning and self-improvement: Therapy is an evolving field, and staying up to date with the latest research, techniques, and best practices is vital for providing you the best evidenced-based care.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

My therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in an integrative framework, which combines several evidence-based techniques and treatment methods to ensure that the therapy is as effective and beneficial as possible for each individual. Here's a breakdown of the few methods and tools I use and what you can expect from them. A Person-Centered approach is at the heart of my practice. I aim to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment where you can explore your experiences, feelings, and thoughts without fear of criticism. Person-centered therapy helps you gain insight, self-acceptance, and personal growth while working at your own pace.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I recognize that each person's experiences, beliefs, and emotions are influenced by their cultural background, and I am dedicated to providing inclusive therapy that respects and values these differences. I am committed to helping you navigate the intersection of culture and mental health.

Strength-Based

Each one of us has strengths, even if they're laying below the surface. We'll identify and work to empower your inherent strengths and abilities to foster resilience and positive change, together.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are powerfully interconnected. By identifying and challenging distorted thought patterns and the false stories your mind tells you, you can make significant changes in your life, develop healthier coping strategies, promote personal insight, and emotional regulation.

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma can have a profound impact on mental health. I use trauma-informed techniques to create a safe space for individuals dealing with trauma, helping them process and heal from their experiences while respecting their boundaries and triggers. Narrative Therapy: We all have unique life stories, and sometimes these narratives can influence how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. I incorporate narrative therapy to help you reframe your stories, identify strengths, and create new, empowering narratives that foster personal growth and fulfillment. Solution-Focused Therapy: In a world where problems can feel overwhelming, Solution-Focused Therapy offers a refreshing perspective. I'll help you identify and amplify your strengths and resources, enabling you to develop practical solutions to your current challenges and move toward a more positive future.
