Hi---Susan here.. I know that finding a therapist you connect with can be a challenge. Most people come to therapy because they are feeling frustrated and/or overwhelmed with anxiety about their life---that it isn't moving along in the way they would like. Developing a feeling of safety and trust is an important step in therapy. Listening attentively, I can help you get clearer about the issues that are bothering you . We can then work together. so that you can make decisions about your life that you feel good about. My current focuses are Life Transitions and Finding Your True Self. Life Transitions refers to any of the many transitions we all go through in life--from going to work or college, marriage, divorce, aging, loss. Soul therapy is an approach where the focus is on you coming back to your true or authentic self where you feel expansive in your life with peace and joy. Each client is unique and I focus on your concerns and desires through compassionate listening and curiosity. Happy to have a 15-minute complementary phone conversation about your situation and see if we are a good fit.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will review your history of the difficulty you want help with. We will discuss what you have already tried to solve this and begin to focus on your goals for therapy---what you would specifically like help with. And then begin to discus ways to accomplish this. Clients usually feel a sense of relief after the first session, that they are starting to address their concerns. Occasionally people feel overwhelmed that they have shared so much. Important to remember that you are in charge of the pace of therapy--be sure to talk with me if you have concerns about this.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Compassionate and deep listening are my biggest strengths along with an ability to see the underlying issues in your concerns. This helps me guide you to understand your situation more completely and for you to eventually share deeper feelings that may been hidden initially. In other words, it helps you find the direction in life that works for you, for your authentic self. Life Transitions and finding your True Sef are my current primary focuses. Often people come to therapy with symptoms such as anxiety or depression and are looking for some immediate relief. My approach is to help you feel calmer so that you can begin to look at more core issues that are causing the symptoms; in other words, it often takes a few sessions to develop trust and to share deeper concerns.
