Hi, I'm Courtney! Congratulations on having the strength and courage in taking the first step on your journey to living your best life. The hardest part of therapy is being brave enough to seek out professional help, which you are doing right now! Like myself and many of my clients, you have tried everything you can think of to mend your issues and up until now, you have not found a successful solution. I am here to tell you that you have come to the right place. I know how intimidating and scary it can be to seek out professional help, I have been where you are right now. I remember thinking that I was probably wasting my time by talking to a complete stranger but feeling like I had to give it a chance because every day that passed by, I felt more less in control of my own life. I am happy to share with you that seeking therapy was the best decision I ever made and I hope by the end of our journey, you feel the same way too!
In our first session together, we'll start building the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship. Throughout the session, we will get to know each other, dive into the specific challenges you're facing, and introduce coping skills you can use immediately.
They key to successful therapy is finding the right therapist. The therapeutic relationship is not only the most important part of therapy but one where I hold great pride and passion in. Creating an honest, trustworthy, and healthy therapeutic relationship is the first step I will take in our journey together. Through this powerful therapeutic relationship, you will feel empowered and in control of your life. My approach is client-centered, together we will create a personalized plan, tailored to your goals and needs. This is where you will build on your strengths and create skills that will follow you through the rest of your life.
Using CBT I help clients understand how their thoughts affect their actions, unlearn negative behaviors, and develop healthier habits, while also learning how to respond better to stress, pain, and difficult situations.
Using EMDR therapy, I help clients recall a stressful past event and “reprogramming” the memory in the light of a new, positive belief, using rapid eye movements to facilitate the process. This will leave you with the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that will lead to healthy and useful behaviors and interactions.
