The Chinese philosopher Lao Tsu said “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” I applaud and you for taking that first step to feeling happier and healthier. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate their emotional well-being and find the path to personal growth and healing. I have had the honor of helping people from diverse backgrounds to address the stress, depression and anxiety that comes with tackling life’s challenges – career transitions, parenting issues, relationship difficulties, communication issues, and social problems. Thank you for trusting me to walk on this journey with you. I look forward to seeing you soon.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions and then define your strengths and supports that will help reach your goals for therapy. I encourage you to talk through your current challenges so that we can establish reasonable goals together. Your treatment plan will be specific to you and individualized to your identified needs and goals, as will the duration of therapy. Most clients begin to feel improvement in the first month at which time we can fine tune our approach to meet your specific goals.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am part of the “sandwich generation”, in that I am caring for my aging parents while my young adult children are working their way towards independence. Life has it’s challenges but it has taught me a lot in patience and seeing things from other perspectives. My clients say I am pretty laid back, and have described me as caring, supportive and open minded. I pride myself in being nonjudgmental and curious in nature which often leads to great opportunities to gently challenge my clients thought processes during sessions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In our sessions, we will set manageable and measurable goals together and using CBT we will explore how your thoughts impact your feelings and behaviors and ultimately your decisions. You will learn to identify your negative thought patterns and learn practical skills to challenge them. I end every session with some type of take away work - whether that is activities, worksheets or just skill building practice. This is important, because we spend only an hour a week together, but you are living out the remaining 167 hours without me. it is important that you practice what we work on so that we can find what is working and what is not in between our sessions. I pair these methods with Solution Focused Treatment techniques which allow us to remain focused on your strengths, goals, and solutions rather than dwelling on problems or overanalyzing their causes.
