Eclectic
In my practice, I adopt an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing from various evidence-based modalities to tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs and circumstances. This flexibility allows me to integrate techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and others, ensuring a holistic and person-centered treatment plan. For example, when working with clients experiencing emotional dysregulation, I may incorporate DBT skills to enhance their coping mechanisms while simultaneously utilizing CBT techniques to challenge negative thought patterns. In cases where clients struggle with motivation, such as in addiction or lifestyle changes, I employ motivational interviewing to empower them and facilitate constructive dialogue about their goals. Additionally, I prioritize interpersonal dynamics and social context in my therapy sessions, applying Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) principles to address relationship issues that may impact mental health. This approach not only fosters deeper client engagement but also encourages sustainable personal growth by promoting healthy coping strategies and relational skills.

Latoya is amazing. I had no expectations going in to this session and she made me feel so at ease. I am very excited about our next session and to get started on me plan. It beautiful to have someone that looks like you on the screen telling you and helping you figure things out.

I love that we can be able to laugh and still have meaningful/intellectual conversations that leave me to think, “how can I incorporate what I learned/the advice given to me to be successful for the week (& future consistently)?” Overall, the sincerity, warmth, understanding and empowering nature of her personality/approach with the therapy sessions is what makes therapy feel good!:)
