My name is Anita, a therapist who has been driven by the fascination of nature and the passion of recovery. In my 24th year of being a therapist, I believe in aiding you in understanding the underlying factors driving your own behavior, clarifying your goals and maintaining a safe emotional place to explore vulnerability and make lasting changes. Compassion combined with scientific based interventions allow us to explore perception, interpretation, influences on your mood, causes for depression (including loneliness) and explore what obstacles you are facing whether perceived or real and ultimately the best way to navigate given your personality and feelings (and boundaries). Often of course we see things from our own brain's perception and thus it is helpful to have an outside presence in processing difficult terrain in life and provide a healthy baseline for emotional regulation. Helping you confront life and your less desired personal traits while in a safe space you feel positively regarded in makes a great difference.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will start with introductions of course, where you can then breathe a sigh of relief...and then relay what has propelled you to seek counseling. It will be a time to share with me if you have had previous treatment and what did or did not work for you, any immediate safety or emotional concerns for yourself or others, and it is always okay to ask me any questions or clarify anything. I think you will find I'm very approachable. Our first session will allow us to create some initial goals, discuss expectations, review a timeline for expected time in therapy, and whether additional supports would be useful.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Over the years I have found I have had the opportunity to encounter a diverse range of issues and backgrounds and improve my skills in applying interventions that prove useful.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Increasing awareness of automatic thoughts and framework through which one filter's their interactions as well as examining emerging core beliefs through stance in life. By adopting more accurate, less undermining thoughts, the associated behaviors can be altered. Brains use patterning to interpret nature, thus becoming aware of what you are thinking subconsciously can lead to further insight. Examination of desired responses and undesired behaviors can then be addressed more fully.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

There are some things within your control to change and some things that come with the territory of individual and or nature. Learning to accept the differences in what one assumes should be and what is present much to our dis satisfaction or coming to terms with certain griefs may be necessary - to move forward and function as best possible in embracing the more difficult challenges in life.
