I'd first like to recognize the strength it has taken to reach this stage in your growth and healing. Seeking assistance can often be an overwhelming task, but you're on the right path! I have had the privilege of accompanying people on their path towards "something better" for roughly ten years, of which the last four have been spent as an independently practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am relaxed, direct, and I strive to make every moment within our work together as productive as possible. I'm accessible and easygoing. I also happen to think that I'm pretty funny, so at least I have that going for me!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

On our first session we'll work to get to know each other both formally and informally; I promise I'm a real person just like everyone else, so our first day together should feel relaxed. My clients set the pace and the tone. We'll discuss your goals, your successes, and we'll begin to explore the reasons for coming to therapy in the first place. The first day should be stress-free and predictable. Clients are free to ask any kinds of questions about the process of therapy, my expectations, and are also encouraged to discuss what their hopes are for beginning this process! By the end of the first session we'll likely have some goals in mind that we can begin to work on immediately.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a firm believer in meeting my clients where there are from the very beginning. Therapy is about growth! There is no need to rush towards something prematurely, so as a provider I want to offer a safe environment to share and develop at a natural and comfortable pace. I like to use a lot of practical examples in each session, and I am very open-minded and patient to any manner of client issues and concerns. I also encourage clients to continue working throughout the week with small tasks and interactive assignments that can be done even when we're not actively meeting!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is effective at identifying and adjusting thought patterns that lead to undesirable moods, behaviors, and emotions! The techniques in CBT are used throughout the therapy process.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy is useful when establishing a better connection with our emotions, how to identify and adjust certain emotional reactions to our triggers. Through DBT we learn how to cope and manage difficult emotional states that are no longer useful in our coping and our relationships!

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Person-Centered Therapy puts the client in total control; it allows clients to fully explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to can self-acceptance, learn better ways of managing our moods and outlook, and create a deeper sense of self-love and internal validation!

Attachment-based

Our attachment styles tend to have a lot of power and influence over the way we connect and relate to others, especially our close relationships. These attachment styles are a result of how we developed and maintained important relationships when we were very young. Exploring this part of our personality can help us better understand ourselves, what triggers us, and how to regulate our emotions when connecting with the people around us, especially in our intimate partnerships.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Brief Treatment can be an effective tool at isolating problem areas in our lives, our behaviors, and in our relationships and dedicating our time and energy on working towards solutions, rather than trying to unpack the sources of the problems directly. This method can be especially helpful when there are specific identifiable deficits in our lives that can benefit from immediate intervention!
