Would you rather thrive than just survive? I am here to help! In this ever-changing world why not gain the skills you need to improve your quality of life? At times, you may need to vent, gain perspective, receive validation, manage impulses, resolve a conflict, untangle chaos, feel happy and tackle what life throws your way. I believe that you have untapped strengths and I can help you develop the road map for personal growth. Starting or continuing your mental health journey with a therapist can be intimidating and scary. I am here to help make the process simple yet rewarding. I have many proven evidence based techniques that help with a variety of problem areas and I will work with you to develop the perfect toolbox.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session consists of gathering some basic background information and impactful life events. I like to develop an understanding of what you expect from me and the therapeutic process overall. If you have a history of therapy, please tell me what worked and what did not. If mental health work is new to you, we can work together to discover the right tools and strategies to help you thrive. Assuming at the end of the first session we are a good fit, we can develop a plan for future sessions to achieve your treatment goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I have an eclectic approach to therapy as each person is different and my approach may change as the individual engages in their journey. Some clients prefer a rigid structure to sessions which includes reviewing a new skill and homework while other prefer to verbally process their thoughts and emotions using guided discovery which involves challenging your perspectives and finding a more helpful path. Journaling, thought records and diary cards are ways to track moods, thoughts and behaviors and practical skills for relaxation and stress reduction techniques include mindfulness, imagery and muscle relaxation. Additionally, DBT based interpersonal skills, emotion regulation and distress tolerance skills are incorporated. A combination of these skills is most effective.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am formally trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I have over 15 years of mental health experience and I have worked with adult and adolescent clients who have depression, anxiety, bipolar moods, substance misuse, family concerns, relationship issues, and trauma. I have experience in a variety of settings including universities, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient clinics, prisons, and private practice. I have worked around the globe including England, Germany, Peru, South Africa, Romania, and Turkey, therefore addressing cultural needs within therapies. My approach is eclectic, and I will meet you wherever you are in your process. I believe that you are the expert on your life and hope to help you on your journey.
