Briana Flowers
I am an LCSW-C who believes in keeping therapy real, raw, and meaningful. My approach is both clinical and deeply empathetic—I meet clients where they are without enabling, but instead empowering them to reach their goals. Flexible in my use of modalities, I tailor treatment to fit your unique needs.
I’ve worked with people in hospitals, out in the community, and supporting vulnerable adults, so I understand life’s challenges from many angles.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, couples counseling, family dynamic concerns, and life stressors, helping you build resilience, clarity, and lasting change in your life and relationships.
First session
In our first session, you can expect a safe and supportive space to share what brought you to therapy. I’ll take time to listen to your goals, gather important background information, and help you begin sorting through that initial rush of emotions. Together, we’ll start outlining a treatment plan tailored to your needs and answer any questions you may have about the process. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of direction.
Strengths
My greatest strength as a clinician is that I’m real, relatable, and well-rounded. I’ve worked with people in hospitals, out in the community, and supporting vulnerable adults, so I understand life’s challenges from many angles. This helps me create a safe space where you feel understood while also getting the tools you need to move forward.
Ideal clients
My ideal clients are everyday people juggling life stress, big emotions, or relationship challenges who just need some real support and new tools to cope. They’re not looking for hospital-level care—they’re looking for someone who will listen, be real with them, and help them find healthier ways to navigate what life throws their way. If you’re ready to feel stronger, more balanced, and more confident in yourself, we’ll work well together.
Treatment methods
Compassion Focused
I use compassion-focused therapy by helping clients develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves, especially when they are struggling with self-criticism, shame, guilt, anxiety, or difficult life experiences. I encourage clients to recognize negative thought patterns without judging themselves and to practice responding with self-compassion instead. In sessions, I may use techniques such as identifying the client’s inner critic, reframing harsh self-talk, mindfulness, grounding exercises, and exploring how past experiences have shaped the way they view themselves. I also help clients build on their strengths and learn healthier ways to cope with difficult emotions. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel safe enough to be vulnerable while learning to treat themselves with the same compassion they often give to others
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify negative or unhelpful thought patterns and explore how those thoughts may be affecting their mood, relationships, and daily life. I help clients challenge and reframe these patterns while developing healthier ways of thinking and responding to stressful situations. Depending on the client’s needs, I may incorporate coping skills, problem-solving, grounding techniques, journaling, and practical strategies they can use outside of sessions. My approach is collaborative and supportive, with the goal of helping clients feel more confident in managing their emotions and making positive, lasting changes.
Group Therapy
I use group therapy to create a supportive environment where clients can connect with others who may be experiencing similar challenges. Group sessions allow clients to recognize that they are not alone while learning from the experiences, perspectives, and successes of others. I incorporate open discussion, coping skills, psychoeducation, problem-solving activities, and opportunities to practice healthy communication and relationship skills. I encourage each person to participate at their own comfort level while maintaining a respectful and nonjudgmental space. My goal is for clients to leave group feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with practical skills they can use in their everyday lives.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy to help clients identify their strengths, recognize what is already working, and focus on practical steps toward the changes they want to make. Rather than focusing only on the problem, I work with clients to develop clear, realistic goals and identify solutions that can be applied to their everyday lives. I may use goal-setting, scaling questions, identifying past successes, and exploring small changes that can lead to meaningful progress. I believe clients already possess many of the strengths and abilities needed to create change, and my role is to help them recognize those strengths, build confidence, and move toward their goals.
