Hi I'm Rennie Manning. I received my BFA in theatre Arts from Jacksonville University, went on to study acting and theatre in London for a year, "pounded the pavement" in NYC for four years and then it was back to grad school for my Masters in Counseling Psychology. I mention my theatre training because it has been invaluable in my counseling work. I strive to 'wear the shoes" of my clients, see the world through YOUR EYES, LEARN YOUR WORLD VIEW, and most importantly practice active listening! It's exciting to work with you because YOU train me as a partner and through role plays, everyone gets heard. I will honor you and offer a safe space. Together we can identify what's not working and get you back to balance - whether its relationship issues, feeling overwhelmed, or struggling with cycles of anxiety and depression. I'm here to help.Seeking therapy may feel scary at first but you're making the right choice! You deserve a safe space to heal and grow. In our sessions together I'll meet you with compassion and evidence based techniques so you can overcome the habits and hangups holding you back. It's time to be kind to yourself! Let's work together! I want to hear about you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, I will ensure that my client is comfortable and knows how they are protected by confidentiality. My client drives the encounter and is invited to ask me any questions they have. I am a very interactive counselor, using humor when necessary, but always using best practice. I will formulate a treatment plan for my client, and I encourage reading, journaling, or other forms of expression if my client is comfortable. I offer a safe and warm space - I find it an honor to be of help.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I gear my therapeutic modalities to the needs of each client. Common practices I use include emotion- focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment (ACT), culturally sensitive, family/marital, family systems, gender dysphoria, interpersonal, mindfulness based (MBCT), solution focused brief (SFBT), strength based and trauma focused. Populations I serve are children, adults, couples, LGBTQ, and elderly adults. I have 31 years of experience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I feel my biggest strengths are my intuition and my humility. I often hear from patients that therapy"intimidates" them. I use my gift of humor and compassion to ensure each human being I come in contact with feels at ease, and understands that I am there to help. I have had much success with couples, teens, parenting, blended families, and I am a big believer in family systems - for instance if I am seeing a teen I incorporate their 'systems' in my approach - meaning parents, siblings, school - all of these impact a person and need to be assimilated into that client's world view for me to better understand them. I have had success with the LGBTQ population, transgenders, borderline personality disorder, trauma and PTSD, and grief counseling. I hope you will let me help.my clients
