Hi! My name is Rachel and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Massachusetts. I graduated with my Master's from Assumption University and have been practicing for 6 years. As an outpatient therapist in a community health setting, I have had the honor of working with many people with different mental health presentations, which has informed my practice. Currently, I work with individuals facing challenges related to trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and the unique struggles of finding our identities in adulthood. I focus on creating a compassionate and curious space where we can identify personal goals, and I can help you learn tools to build the resiliency and confidence to pursue them.
Our first session will focus on me getting to know you and the stressors that have led you to (bravely!) seek out therapy. Once we have identified your personal goals (which may take more than 1 session), we will create a plan together to achieve them.
I approach each of my clients with a holistic mindset, understanding that trauma, ADHD, and anxiety (and indeed, other mental health disorders) don't exist in isolation. They are influenced by relationships, work dynamics, life circumstances, and personal histories. I prioritize making my clients feel safe to explore these influences with curiosity, not judgement, and I prize open and honest communication.
I love working with adults who are on the path of establishing their identity and life goals. Together, we can address the social, cultural, and gendered (to name a few!) pressures to achieve, and how mental health issues, such as trauma, anxiety, and ADHD, both contribute and increase due to these pressures.
I utilize CBT in my practice to help clients understand the impact of thoughts and beliefs on mood, behaviors, and relationships. By understanding, addressing, and challenging these thoughts and beliefs, clients are able to make informed decisions that empower them to move towards personal goals.
As a trauma informed therapist, I work to understand and be sensitive to past traumatic experiences and how they impact a person's current state. Trauma impacts our cognitions, worldview, and sense of value. Addressing these perceptions in a compassionate and informed way is important for growth, and I will work with you to move past these obstacles to achieve your personal goals.
