Hello! I am Amanda, counselor of 15 years, wife of 17 years, and mother for 10 years and counting. I have been a resident of the North Austin area for the last five years and am a Texas native, though I did spend some time growing up in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. I am active in my son’s school, my church and my community which I am happy to call home. I have worked in domestic violence shelters, residential programs for children, with Child Protective Services, and in Private Practice. For many years I have had the privilege of joining my clients in the process of change. We go through so much in our lives. Love, loss, stress and anxieties shape who we are. I respect the courage that it takes to look at these things and seek growth and change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My clients come to me seeking a place to share their life experiences, feel understood and develop new skills to promote change in a warm, non judgmental, professional, compassionate and confidential atmosphere. We will address the issues which are important to you, where you desire change, and growth.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I utilize a wide range of treatment methods in effort to find the tools which best fit each individual. I frequent Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, Supportive Therapy, Play Therapy, Trauma Counseling, Christian/Faith Based Therapy (upon request) and am certified in Trauma Focused -Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I like to stay abreast of the latest research in Neurobiology and use the latest understanding of how our brains work integrated with therapy. We may also choose to work on social skills, communication skills, stress management, self-esteem building, relaxation skills or anything else you may feel you would like to further develop.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am registered with the American Society of Reproductive Medicine behavioral health division- specializing in counseling those going through infertility and loss. I also work with those considering adoption, and those going through pregnancy and child loss. I am trained as a Christian/Biblical therapist and practice such upon request. I enjoy working with teens, preteens and women in all stages of their lives.
