Greetings! I’m Shantel Chapman, a licensed therapist in Florida & North Carolina with over 9 years of experience in the behavioral health field and 3 years of experience in mental health counseling. I know that individuals experience challenges throughout their lifetime that may impact their mental and emotional health. My purpose is to be a supportive guide for individuals searching for a way to navigate these challenges, find healing, and hope for the future. I use a person-centered, empathic, and compassionate approach along with a combination of evidence-based counseling modalities to support clients on their journey. These modalities include cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and trauma-focused therapy. I believe in creating a safe, supportive space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.
The initial appointment will start with introductions and a conversation of "what brought you in today?" I will gather background information for diagnostic purposes and discuss goals to develop a treatment plan.
Having worked in community mental health for multiple years I understand the stigma associated with seeking support from a professional. However, I create a simple therapeutic process so it isn't intimidating which allows diverse groups of people to seek care, and feel seen and heard.
I use CBT to support individuals in learning about the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The goal is to help my clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors.
I use a person-centered therapy approach by creating a safe and supportive space for my clients to explore their feelings and aspirations. The focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship, allowing clients to experience growth and self-acceptance.
