Hi! I'm Kristina Vaughan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Texas. I've been a therapist for 2.5 years, and an exceptional social worker for six years. I received my Master's Degree from the University of Houston. I help adults of all ages to heal from emotion dysregulation and self-sabotage patterns rooted in childhood trauma. I specialize in Bipolar Disorder and Impulse Control Disorders. If you feel like you've been living in a state of being an audience member, rather than the storyteller of your own life, then look no further. I'm the right therapist for you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session together, we will start with me getting to know you, your story, and what you hope to accomplish. From there, we'll create a specific plan to help you feel better and more hopeful in the short term and the long term.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with diverse array of clients for the past 2.5 years, I can honestly say that my clients appreciate my dedication and expertise in the areas of relating the past trauma, their subconscious and conscious choices, to the present, and then helping them re-script their future.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have used this treatment modality to assist patients in obtaining their goals and move past depression, anxiety, fear and phobias. I have found guiding my patients in discovering their values, to be extremely rewarding.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT to treat a wide array of conditions. Most importantly, I have used it to assist my patients in identifying negative core beliefs that affect the self sabotaging patterns/habits in their lives that they get stuck in. I also use CBT to address unhelpful worldviews because of childhood trauma.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have used DBT to assist my patients with being more effective in their relationships, and to take control of their emotional reactions to the many situations that life throws at us.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I use mindfulness to help my patients with attention and focus issues, as well as uncontrolled anxiety. I also use mindfulness to aid patients with insomnia.

Narrative

This is a newer type of therapy that I am using to guide patients in re-writing the stories of their lives, to create the lives that they actually want.
