About me

Hello, I am Kate Grim! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) in the state of Ohio. I have been working in the field of counseling since my graduation from Wright State University in 2018. I have had multiple opportunities in that time to work with various populations in Community Mental Health programs. I am passionate about working in the field of mental health and love to support people on their growth journeys. I am a small town girl at heart who has re-located to a larger city. I love to spend time with my family and friends, as well as my two fur babies. I would love the opportunity and privilege to be a part of your story!

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, we will focus on getting to know each other and creating a space in which you feel comfortable exploring what led you to seek therapy. I will have quite a few questions to ask, to help me best understand your history, current experience, goals, and expectations for our time together. Throughout our journey together, you will also have the opportunity to ask me questions. My goal is for you to leave our first session feeling seen, heard, supported, and hopeful.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe that building a strong therapeutic alliance is the foundation of all meaningful work in therapy. Therefore, I do my very best to try and create a safe space for my clients to feel comfortable with exploring difficult topics, thoughts, and emotions. I strive to maintain a collaborative and strength-based approach, fully believing that each of us has the capability to thrive already within. By combining these approaches with evidence based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, I am confident that together we can create lasting change in your life!

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to grow and evolve, even if they feel stuck or unsure where to start. Many of the people I have supported in my work struggle with anxiety, sadness, relationship challenges, or life transitions. I simply ask that you are open to exploring your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, developing healthier coping skills, and building a stronger sense of self.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been an important method of my clinical practice since I started counseling. The interventions provided by CBT allow me to support clients in changing unhelpful ways of thinking and ultimately improve well-being through modified behavior.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing (MI) has proven helpful for clients who are ambivalent about making a change in their life. I have utilized MI skills with many clients who found themselves mandated into a treatment program, and we have been able to make positive change even though they were reluctant to engage in counseling.

Strength-Based

I continuously do my best to work from a Strength-Based approach. I believe that everyone has the capability to meet their goals and many simply need someone to help them identify and learn to utilize their personal strengths in order to achieve those goals.
