New to Grow
With the ups and downs of life, there are ways we learn to cope and deal with the good and the bad that life throws at us. Some days are easier than others, and finding peace in the midst of chaos is easier said than done. With each new "adventure" we have opportunities to learn and grow. Life is better when we are thriving, instead of just surviving. My hope is that through counseling we can explore together what makes a difference for you and how you can thrive. It is my goal to help others by walking with them in life as they explore and discover what brings them joy and fulfillment, and supporting them as they reach those goals. Through my experience working with child, adolescents and adults with co-occurring mental health disorders at the outpatient and IOP levels, I have always aimed to assist the individual in reaching for the best versions of themselves. I also have special training in EMDR Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Emotion Focused Therapy EFT, Gottman Method Relationship Therapy, , and Trust Based Relationship Interventions TBRI . With the availability and convenience of telehealth, therapy is more accessible than ever. Help can be just one phone call away.
The first session is a great opportunity to me to learn more about you and what your goals are not just in therapy but in life. My focus is on helping you succeed and getting to know each other is a great first step on that journey.
Every counselor is different and it's certainly a task to find the right fit. I think it's important for clients to understand they are in charge when selecting their service provider. What makes each of us unique is our personality, and it's my hope and intention to best serve each person I meet. While I have specialized training in supporting individuals with trauma and conflict in relationships, each person comes with their own experiences and needs and my goal is to help sort out goals, priorities, values, actionable items and of course managing all the of the wonderful emotions that come with daily life adventures.
Personally I find great insight in understanding the "why" of how things work in our brains and bodies while balancing the reality of life and radical acceptance. We will likely get a long well if your interested in learning more about the why's in mental wellbeing as well as how to go about maintaining healthy behaviors and mindset.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a humanistic, evidence-based approach to psychotherapy, drawing primarily from attachment theory to facilitate the creation of secure, vibrant connection with self and others. Rooted in the science of emotions and attachment, EFT helps clients identify and transform the negative processing and interaction patterns that create distress.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy, MBCT, is a modified form of cognitive therapy that incorporates mindfulness practices that include present moment awareness, meditation, and breathing exercises.
