Hi, I'm Nooshin, a licensed marriage and family therapist based in California. Nice to meet you! I love therapy. I think it’s cool, powerful, and transformative. I am in awe of our complex human brain, our interconnected body, and the depths of our emotion. I am passionate about helping my clients to find clarity, connect with themselves on a deep, intuitive level, and achieve growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I'll inquire about your background to gain deeper insight into your history. I find this important because our past experiences shape our brain and mind, influencing how we think and act. Therefore, I like to learn about some salient points in your life story. With that said, you have complete control over what you choose to share – fostering comfort and safety in our client-therapist relationship is essential. We'll also discuss your treatment goals and collaborate to create a plan. My goal is to support you in embracing your true self, navigating life's challenges, tapping into your strengths, acquiring new skills, and fostering resilience.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I recognize the importance of conceptualizing the “whole” person in therapy – mind, body, and spirit. In addition to talk therapy, I integrate mindfulness and somatic practices. These practices help to regulate our nervous systems (e.g., increase relaxation and concentration, reduce stress hormones), increase awareness, process trauma, and access deeper emotional states. This allows for a comprehensive approach to healing and growth.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I aim to create a welcoming and safe environment where clients feel comfortable delving into challenges stemming from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, past traumas, interpersonal conflicts, or moments of feeling stagnant, whether in their personal, professional, or creative endeavors. By gaining insight into barriers hindering forward movement and connecting with deeper emotions, we pave the way for transformation. Simultaneously, we open doors to more joy, personal growth, and renewal. Central to my approach is an unwavering commitment to cultural sensitivity, honoring each individual's distinct perspective, lived experiences, and truths.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I use an integrative, and holistic approach in therapy to tailor treatment to my client's needs. I draw from various evidenced-based theories and practices, such as interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, narrative therapy, internal family systems, and mindfulness and somatic practices.

Strength-Based

I believe that we have individual strengths and resources that facilitate personal growth and healing. When we connect with these strengths, we cultivate hope and resilience.

Mind-body approach

I view the mind and body as an integrated system that dynamically works together to inform what we feel, think, and even do. The state of our mind, such as emotions or beliefs, affects our body (e.g., calm or agitated). The state of our body also has a reciprocal effect on our mind. I incorporate cognitive strategies, through talk therapy, to help my clients gain insight about their self-beliefs or stories that may be limiting or driving certain behaviors or feelings. Also, I help my clients learn strategies to regulate their nervous system and access deeper emotions through mindfulness or somatic practices with the goal of providing a comprehensive and holistic approach to healing and empowerment.
