Hi, I’m Kristen Levin, LCSW. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and holding everything together isn’t always easy. If you’re going through a challenging season, feeling stuck, or simply needing space to focus on yourself, therapy can offer support, clarity, and relief. My approach is client-centered and strengths-based, with care tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and patterns, while gently guiding, supporting, and challenging them when helpful. I strive to create a safe, trusting, and comfortable environment where you can openly express yourself, process emotions, build coping skills, and develop a stronger sense of self. Together, we work toward meaningful change and a more balanced, fulfilling life. I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Solution-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Client-Centered Therapy. Treatment is always collaborative, and we’ll develop a plan together that aligns with your specific goals. I look forward to connecting and supporting you on your journey.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it’s completely normal to have questions or mixed feelings going into a first session. Our initial meeting is a chance for us to get to know each other and for you to share what brought you to therapy, at your own pace. We’ll talk about what you’re hoping to get out of therapy, any concerns or challenges you’re currently facing, and relevant background that may be helpful for me to know. I’ll also explain how I work, answer any questions you have, and make sure you feel comfortable moving forward. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out or to know exactly what to say. This session is about creating a sense of safety, building rapport, and beginning to understand how therapy can best support you. Together, we’ll start identifying goals and next steps that feel realistic and aligned with your needs.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I believe my greatest strengths are my ability to listen deeply, understand each person’s unique experiences, and support growth within a safe, compassionate, and supportive environment.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal client is someone who is ready for support and meaningful change, even if they’re unsure where to begin. Whether you’re facing anxiety, life transitions, or feeling stuck, I value working collaboratively with clients who are open to reflection, growth, and developing tools to support their well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize this method to help clients achieve their goals and live their best life as it is generally highly successful in helping patients reflect and reframe their thought processes.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
The core of IFS therapy is developing a relationship with each of our internal parts. This involves learning to listen to each part, understanding their motivations and needs, and working to heal any wounds or conflicts that may exist within the system.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational interviewing helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities to find the internal motivation they need to change their behavior. It is practical and empathetic and takes into consideration how difficult it is to make life changes.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.
