I offer a collaborative approach to help people achieve their wellness goals. I believes in treating each person as a unique individual and works with you to find the best path toward wellness! Growing up, I witnessed those close to me struggle with mental illness and experienced firsthand the toll this takes on the family when it is left untreated. My background in nursing is evident in my compassionate, client-centered approach. I am a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who is experienced in treating depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, bipolar disorder, and other psychiatric disorders.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I am trained in multiple psychotherapeutic modalities and incorporate this into practice along with medication management. I will help you to be present to your emotional experiences and develop insight into your psychological functioning. I will also involve you in the treatment decision-making process. I find many people feel powerless when they come to me and this treatment approach promotes treatment alliance, and also encourages and fosters independence and self-confidence.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I grew up in a military home (Go Army!) and come from a multiracial family. I am comfortable in a variety of settings and I carry this experience forward into the treatment setting. I am compassionate and understanding of the unique challenges facing people from many different walks of life.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I feel this treatment approach aligns most closely with my values as it tailors to everyone's own unique needs and validates experiences in a therapeutic way. This approach works best with a practitioner who is empathetic and nonjudgemental.

Psychoeducation

A large part of what I do requires providing education - from the understanding of various mental illnesses, diagnosis, and various ways to manage them. Also the medication options and risks and benefits of each. This takes time and is tailored to each individual client.

Psychodynamic

This approach is valuable as it helps us understand the reasons and motivations for why we do what we do. This understanding allows us to develop the insight and awareness to change behaviors and thinking.

Trauma Informed Care

Everything I do is with the realization and understanding that we are all experiencing life through our own unique lens and this often shapes our perspective.
