Tonya Meeks, LMFT Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Specialties: Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety, Bullying, Addiction, Eating Disorders, Trauma, IVF/Fertility Support Hi, I’m Tonya—a therapist, writer, and performer with over 20 years of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges. My approach is deeply informed by my background in writing and performance, blending creativity and empathy to foster healing. As a parent of a neurodivergent son, I understand the unique needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). My personal experience allows me to connect with families in profound ways and offer insights grounded in real-world experience. I also offer compassionate support for individuals navigating fertility struggles, having personally undergone IVF as a single mother by choice. In addition to traditional therapy, I integrate creative expression into my work. Through storytelling and performance, I help clients explore their narratives, reframe challenges, and unlock new pathways to self-discovery. This holistic, individualized approach allows me to support clients in ways that resonate with them personally. I specialize in working with children, teens, and young adults, offering tailored treatment plans for emotional regulation, social skills, and mental health challenges such as anxiety, trauma, and addiction. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, helping clients gain insight and build resilience at their own pace. Beyond therapy, I created and perform in Flying Standby, a one-woman show that explores themes of vulnerability and personal transformation. I believe in the power of creative expression as a tool for healing and personal growth. Whether you’re navigating trauma, addiction, or neurodiversity, I am here to guide you on your journey of healing and self-discovery.

Together, we’ll create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. My goal is to provide immediate relief, helping you feel understood and supported from the very beginning. Whether you need time to talk about your challenges or prefer to begin with a specific issue, I will work with your style to ensure the session feels natural and helpful. Throughout our work together, you’ll find that my approach is collaborative, empathetic, and attuned to your needs. We will work at your pace, focusing on your unique experiences and strengths to help you move forward.
What do you feel are your greatest strengths as a provider? I believe my greatest strengths as a provider lie in my extensive experience, empathic nature, and ability to meet each individual exactly where they are. I don’t believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach—every person is unique, and I tailor my work to their specific needs. With my background in neurodiversity, complex trauma, grief, and dual diagnosis, I am deeply attuned to the diverse challenges people face. My personal journey has profoundly shaped my practice. As the parent of a neurodivergent son, I have a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges of individuals with autism and related conditions. I bring this lived experience into my work, fostering connection and empathy with clients and families navigating similar journeys. In addition, I’ve been in recovery since 2004, and my own path to healing has given me invaluable insight into the recovery process and the power of resilience. My experience working in residential treatment, where I supported individuals with dual diagnoses and addiction, has further strengthened my ability to work with those facing complex challenges. I have also had the privilege of running therapeutic groups such as Telling the Truth on Stage and The Artist’s Way, which focus on self-expression, creativity, and healing. Lastly, my work in private practice allows me to offer a deeply individualized, client-centered approach, helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered on their journey. Whether navigating anxiety, relationships, or recovery, I meet each person where they are and work with them to build a path forward that aligns with their values and goals.
With extensive experience in dual diagnosis, addiction, and complex trauma, I, Tonya Meeks, bring a unique blend of clinical insight and creative practice to my work as a drama therapist. I have worked in both private practice and in residential and primary psychological treatment settings, where I specialize in guiding the entire family system toward healing and resilience. My approach is direct, empathetic, and deeply intuitive, informed by my training in depth psychotherapy and enriched by my background in performance. I am passionate about helping people embrace and express their creativity, believing that everyone has a creative spirit meant to flourish. I especially enjoy working with artists, creatives, and those wishing to explore or develop their creative capacities. In recent years, I have also focused on supporting individuals and families affected by autism. I work closely with both parents and children on the spectrum, helping to foster communication, empathy, and growth through creative and therapeutic interventions tailored to each family’s unique needs. My approach is collaborative and supportive, recognizing the strengths and individual needs of each family member within the broader family system. Since becoming a mother, I have expanded my focus to include issues surrounding infertility, motherhood, and parenting. As someone who has walked the path of infertility and chosen single motherhood, I bring a unique perspective and deep empathy to clients navigating these experiences. I understand firsthand the profound joys and challenges of parenthood and aim to support others in a way that is both grounded and affirming. In our work together, I am committed to walking alongside you on even the darkest paths, helping you find the light at every turn. My goal is to be a steadfast presence, guiding you toward healing, creativity, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
