New to Grow
My name is Erica Thompson, and I am a Mental Health Therapist with over 10 years of experience. Being a therapist is a truly rewarding profession that allows me to support, guide, and empower others as they navigate life’s challenges. My passion lies in helping individuals grow, heal, and discover their strengths so they can live healthier, more fulfilling lives.
In our first session together, my main goal is to get to know you and understand what brings you to therapy. We’ll talk about your concerns, your goals, and any questions you may have about the process. I’ll also share a little about how I work, so you’ll know what to expect moving forward. Think of this first meeting as a conversation—it’s a chance for us to build a connection, explore what you’d like to achieve, and decide how we can best work together. My focus is on creating a safe, welcoming space where you feel comfortable, supported, and respected.
What sets my approach apart is the balance between compassion and practicality. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard, while also offering concrete tools and strategies they can use in everyday life. My methods are flexible and tailored to each individual, drawing from evidence-based practices such as cognitive-behavioral techniques, mindfulness, and strength-based approaches. Clients often share that they feel empowered, supported, and more equipped to manage challenges after working with me. I focus not just on helping people cope, but on guiding them toward lasting growth, confidence, and positive change.
I specialize in supporting individuals who are seeking guidance through life’s challenges, whether that involves managing anxiety, depression, stress, or major life transitions. I work well with clients who are motivated to grow, open to self-reflection, and ready to make positive changes in their lives. Many of the people I serve are looking to improve their emotional well-being, build coping skills, strengthen relationships, and discover healthier ways to navigate day-to-day stressors. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients feel heard, empowered, and equipped to reach their personal goals.
I use the humanistic approach in therapy by focusing on the client centered technique in allowing the client to lead the conversation, while as the therapists being genuine and empathetic throughout the session . Therapist will guide client to focus on the now .
A technique I use in CBT is homework by journaling and using thought records . Additionally, having the client express thoughts , feelings and behaviors they are feeling at the time .
