I have been a licensed therapist for over 15 years, licensed in California and Nevada. I understand that reaching out and starting the therapy process can be a little overwhelming in and of itself, so I work to set a pace that is comfortable for my client. If you are ready to dive into the deep end, we will go there. If you need some time to ease into the hard work of therapy, we will go at a pace that feels comfortable. I see myself as a guide in the process of therapy and, at times, more of a teacher, sharing strategies and information. My goal as a therapist is to help you develop the resources and strategies to feel confident in your ability to handle life challenges. Sometimes that involves really getting in touch with the way you think and what you believe, or exploring how you are talking to yourself, or it might involve healing childhood wounds. Since each client is unique I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, I incorporate evidenced based strategies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and sometimes complimentary therapies such as Guided Imagery. I tend to be eclectic in my approach because each person is an individual, and there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to resolving life issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be an opportunity for some brief introductions. I am happy to answer any questions you have about therapy and the way I practice. It is also a time for me to learn more about you and your current challenges. I will ask some questions about your current supports and gather some background information to get a good idea of who you are so I can better serve you. With your help, we will identify your goal for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having been a therapist for over 15 years I have learned a lot about the importance of helping others see their strengths. Most of us are all too good at identifying our flaws and one of my goals is to help you recognize that you also have more strengths than you give yourself credit for. In my years of practice I have developed a lot of tools along the way and I love to share new practices and strategies with clients. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe and comfortable and heard.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I believe that our thoughts impact our experience and as such it is vital to start to pay attention to how we talk to ourself, investigate our belief systems, and pay attention to the way we perceive a situation. I also tend to be very eclectic with my therapeutic approach and will bring in other modalities, however I will typically start with some Cognitive Behavioral strategies. I find that often CBT is enough to get someone started on a better path regardless of why they are coming into therapy.

Integrative

Although I utilize evidenced-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. I also incorporate strategies from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic therapy, and complementary therapies such as Guided Imagery and Emotional Freedom Techniques/Tapping. I value each persons individuality and know that there is no one treatment modality that works with everyone. I also find that talk therapy isn't always enough, this is why I have added some of the complementary practices in my therapy sessions.
