Greetings! I am Dr. Theresa Towle, a dual-certified family & psychiatric mental-health nurse practitioner with decades of experience in providing holistic care. I specialize in helping individuals heal, process trauma, build resilience, and find balance when feeling emotionally overwhelmed or anxious. My approach incorporates evidence-based techniques to treat both mind and body, focusing on the significant role of the gut-brain axis in managing anxiety, depression, trauma, attention issues, weight loss, and a myriad of other health concerns. I am a proud graduate of several esteemed institutions, including Rush University College of Nursing, University of St. Francis, St. Xavier University, University of Chicago, and Indiana University. Alongside my clinical practice, I occasionally share my knowledge and experience as an adjunct professor at Loyola University Chicago. Throughout my extensive career, I have come to deeply understand the integral relationship between emotional, spiritual, and mental health with physical well-being, emotional balance, and overall life satisfaction. My practice, Balance Health, is dedicated to working with clients to develop a holistic approach to care with the ultimate goal of helping you find your balance. IN-PERSON APPOINTMENTS: A limited number of in-person appointments are available for clients in Illinois and Arizona. Please email the office at admin@foundmybalance for more information. APPOINTMENT INFORMATION: All appointments are tentative until approved by my office. You will receive an email from Balance Health once the appointment has been confirmed. If you do not see an appointment that is in the timeframe you are looking for, please email the office at admin@foundmybalance.com. Sooner appointments may be available.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
During our first visit, we will conduct a psychiatric evaluation to understand your symptoms, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, as well as your past medical, family, and social history. This evaluation, which may include blood work or other diagnostic testing, aims to determine the presence of a mental health disorder and the best course of treatment. Each follow-up visit typically involves a combination of medication management and brief solution focused therapy, tailored to your unique diagnosis. While our sessions' primary focus will be medication management, we will also explore if more extensive concurrent psychotherapy would be beneficial.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
My commitment is to help you find the balance that may be missing in your life. I believe in a non-judgmental approach, careful listening, and working collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that is realistic, doable, and designed for your specific needs. Whether through medication, therapy, exercise, or other lifestyle changes, I am passionate about helping you find relief from depression, anxiety, past trauma, and life's ever-changing ups and downs.
