Change can feel scary and stressful. Standing at a crossroads can feel uncertain and overwhelming. Sometimes our life circumstances change, other times we decide that what we are doing now, is no longer working for us. My focus is working with people who are experiencing anxiety, depressed mood, grief, loss, addictions, trauma, PTSD, and other adjustments and life transitions. This could involve changes in relationships, family, spirituality, health, career, education, or living situation. It could include death, healing wounds and inner children, identifying and enforcing boundaries, and identifying and changing limiting beliefs.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In my sessions I prioritize creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel empowered to explore their emotions and experiences. I aim to create a space where you can lose the filter and just be real about what's going on without feeling self-conscious.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My life changed at 18-years of age when I made the decision to get into a car with a friend after drinking alcohol. I suffered a broken neck leaving me paralyzed from the shoulders down, never to walk again. I credit my transformation away from victimhood to recognizing the choice that night to enter the car and I took responsibility for it. When I accepted that I would never walk again, I moved forward with my life and learned a 'new normal'. Sometimes, there is a happy ending, even when it is not initially apparent.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with couples, adults, and older teens, using a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to each individual's needs. This includes clients suffering from depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, life stress, grief, trauma, and relationship issues.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) effectively addresses a variety of mental health issues by changing unhelpful thought patterns & behaviors. I feel CBT empowers individuals with practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety & depression in daily life. It is a structured approach to treatment , that focuses on the present and points out that it is one's thoughts and emotions that cause a behavior, not an outside stimuli.

Couples Counseling

Most often, my view and experience with Couples Therapy is seeing the couple as more helpless then hopeless. They need help recognizing how they interact with their partner and identify new responses to express how they are feeling and what they need from each other. Couples therapy reminds us love is a valuable weapon to fight against the obstacles that would tear people apart.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT to teach clients skills to manage intense emotions, cope with challenging situations, and improve their relationships. I introduce to them to the concept behind mindfulness, which simply is the act of noticing your surroundings and focusing on the present moment.

Grief Therapy

Grief is something everyone will experience at some point in life. One of the best benefits of grief counseling might be that it can help you understand what you’re going through. No two people’s experiences with grief are the same, which makes the grief journey even more lonely, painful, and difficult to navigate.
