Hi, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Virginia. I received my PhD in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech and have been practicing for over 22 years. I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds and circumstances. I help young adults who are struggling to figure out their future as well as older adults with mid-life challenges and difficulties.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and then dive into the challenges you are facing. This will help me develop a personal plan for you. I would love the opportunity to meet with you, hear your story, and see how I can help. Together, we will find the most comfortable and best approach to help you move toward a more fulfilling life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been an LPC for over 20 years. I genuinely care about my clients and want them to lead happy, healthy, and fulfilling lives. I pride myself on my ability to connect with others. This connection has helped me build open, honest, and respectful relationships throughout my years of practice.

My treatment methods

Interpersonal

I use Interpersonal therapy to help clients explore how their relationships affect mood. I work with clients to improve social adjustment, and reduce depressive symptoms as they make necessary changes on their own.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

In person-centered therapy I use unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding to understand the client's point of view. I provide a non-judgmental approach to help clients gain control over their lives.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients to recognize how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. That knowledge can help change thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Strength-Based

The Strength-Based approach is centered around the idea that the client is the agent of change. I use open communication and encourage individuals to identify their strengths and capacities.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I used Solution Focused Brief Therapy as a short-term, goal-focused therapeutic approach to treatment. SFBT focuses on building solutions rather than eradicating problems.
