As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), I am dedicated to supporting individuals through life's challenges and fostering their personal growth. I am a Virginia based therapist who has been practicing for 4 years. I provide a compassionate and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I absolutely love helping and advocating for others, while assisting them in learning to cope with the stressors of life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session my clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment conducive to building rapport. I create a nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe and accepted. Active listening and empathetic responses will characterize the interaction, as I attentively listens to the client's concerns and validates their experiences. Through open-ended questions and collaborative dialogue, clients will have the opportunity to explore their thoughts, feelings, and goals in depth. I will actively involve clients in the therapeutic process, seeking their input and feedback to ensure a collaborative approach to treatment. Throughout the session, I will work to establish trust and rapport, laying the groundwork for a strong therapeutic alliance. By setting a tone of empathy, respect, and authenticity, I will foster a supportive atmosphere that encourages openness, honesty, and self-reflection. The first session serves as an important foundation for the therapeutic relationship, with the counselor and client working together to build a trusting and collaborative partnership. Overall, clients can expect the first session to be a positive and empowering experience, where they feel heard, understood, and supported on their journey toward healing and growth. Building rapport is an ongoing process that begins from the moment clients enter the counseling room and continues to deepen over time, forming the basis for a successful and effective therapeutic relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a counselor, I specialize in creating a nurturing and accepting atmosphere where individuals feel empowered to explore their mental health and personal identity. Through compassionate listening and genuine empathy, I establish a foundation of trust and understanding, allowing clients to feel comfortable and validated as they navigate their inner world. My approach to therapy is collaborative, recognizing that each client is the expert of their own experiences. I work closely with individuals to identify their goals, challenge limiting beliefs, and develop personalized strategies for growth and healing. By fostering a sense of autonomy and empowerment, I help clients tap into their inner resources and discover their inherent strengths and resilience. I believe in the transformative power of self-discovery and personal exploration. Through guided introspection and reflection, I assist clients in gaining insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, fostering greater self-awareness and emotional well-being. Together, we navigate the complexities of mental health with curiosity and openness, uncovering new perspectives and possibilities for growth. My ultimate goal as a counselor is to create a supportive and empowering space where individuals feel encouraged to embrace their authenticity and live more fulfilling lives. I am dedicated to providing compassionate guidance and unwavering support as clients embark on their journey of self-discovery and personal growth. It is my privilege to accompany clients on this transformative path, and I am committed to helping them cultivate resilience, find healing, and thrive.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Identifying and Challenging Negative Thoughts: • Help clients identify negative thought patterns. For example, if a client frequently thinks, “I’m a failure,” work with them to challenge this thought by examining the evidence for and against it and developing a more balanced perspective.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Distress Tolerance: • Provide clients with skills to cope with and tolerate distressing situations without making them worse. Techniques include distraction (e.g., engaging in activities, counting objects), self-soothing (e.g., using the five senses), and radical acceptance (e.g., acknowledging reality as it is). Emotion Regulation: • Help clients understand and manage their emotions by identifying and labeling their emotions, increasing positive emotional experiences, and applying techniques like opposite action (e.g., engaging in an activity that produces the opposite emotion).
