Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our initial session you will expect me to discuss the nature of what therapy is and how it can benefit you in your journey. I will also discuss confidentiality and limits due to mandated reporting. I hope that I can provide you with an idea of who I am and what my therapeutic styles are. Most importantly I want to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe to be able to open up and share. I want to get to know you are an individual and how I can best support and help guide you to your goals in treatment.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I have training in several modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytical, Narrative, Family Systems, and ARC modalities. I believe the client-therapist relationship is essential in the therapeutic process.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe in building healthy trust and boundaries with my client. Establishing a strong rapport between the client and therapist is essential to the therapeutic process. Providing a safe space for the client to explore vulnerabilities and welcome the healing process in a therapeutic environment. I believe it is important to be attune to my client, challenge them when needed, and validate their thoughts and feelings to allow growth and healing in their journey.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I believe that we all have our story and challenges in life. I also believe we all have personal strengths that will help guide us through our challenges. I believe in healing and understanding how our past experiences, connections with others, the environment, and within ourselves affect who we are today. We are all human beings trying to navigate this life we have. It is my hope that I can be a part of your growth and healing.

She was very open minded about my feelings and situation, and she offered concrete steps to work on going forward.

Besides being a warm, intelligent person, Kim has a good sense of humor and is nonjudgmental. She has been very supportive and a good listener. She has a family member with autism so she understands my challenges of caring for my two profoundly autistic adult children alone without any family or close friends. She has been encouraging and patient with me as I try to find new activities and form goals to cope with the ongoing grief of my husband's death.

You can really see that Kimberly enjoys her job. She makes connections, puts pieces together to really help you understand your journey. She cares tremendously, takes copious notes, and really gets to the nitty gritty. After every session I leave with clarity and that’s really important to me.
