Hello! My name is Cristina Zacarias; I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I graduated with my Masters degree in 2017. I have worked with a variety of clients over the years but have focused more on treating anxiety and depression. My approach to therapy is to listen to you and work together as a team. I am not here to tell you what to do but to help you achieve your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions and make the environment as comfortable as possible, then I would ask what brings you to therapy and any goals that you would like to achieve. This will help me better understand you and help create a plan for us to follow, as we work together on a weekly basis.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with a big age range, from 18-year-olds to 65-year-olds, which has given me the experience to help clients going through different hardships, as well as using a variety of treatment methods. Therapy can be very personal, so what may work for one person, may not work for someone else.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients improve their mood when it is being affected by depression, anxiety, and other stressors. I focus on clients' thought patterns, moods, and behaviors in order to challenge them and make changes.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe using a person-centered approach is important, as it allows the client to feel safe in a therapeutic environment and openly express their emotions as they know they would not be judged.

Psychoeducation

One important factor in helping clients succeed and meet their goals is to be given the right tools by providing psychoeducation on different techniques that can be used for every day stressors, overthinking, negative thoughts, work-life balance, among other things.
