Hello and welcome! I’m Tammy Austin, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a passion for guiding individuals through life’s challenges towards a path of healing, growth, and authenticity. At my practice, we embrace the power of connection, understanding, and resilience in overcoming issues specific to women experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or ife transitions. In my practice I also work with men seeking deeper emotional connections within themselves and with others.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we will get acquainted with an easy and comfortable conversation. I will listen as you share your concerns, challenges and triumphs. We will summarize your challenges and discuss a course of action. Additionally, in your first session we will explore the best approach for your personal style of growth, ie coaching, insight based, conversational and eclectic approach.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a transformative therapist, we will outline your vision for yourself and identify a path for your best path. I work in a conversational style and I like to provide reflection work to aid with between session learning. There are times when we may focus on your mindset, as opposed to a diagnosis.

My treatment methods

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I utilize Mindfulness Based Therapy (MBT) to aid patients with presence and self awareness of their physical body and how they experience their emotions. MBT is also used with couples to identify areas of need and fulfillment in the relationship. Many times we travel to the future causing anxiety about unrealized expectations or needs or we travel to the past where we re-experience disappointment and hurt. We will work on being present and identifying strategies to successfully move forward with healing.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I utilize DBT to aid patients with managing difficult emotions and thoughts. Specifically DBT is helpful for acceptance and personal empowerment.
