New to Grow
I have primarily worked with teens, young adults and adults. I am experienced in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, depression, anxiety and the issues that can come with those, such as self esteem issues and difficulties with relationships. I also have experience working with individuals who have significant mental health issues as well. I have worked in the mental health field for approximately 30 years in a variety of capacities.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
My approach will be to listen to you and find out what you want and need, and we will work together on deciding the path I tend to use what therapeutic interventions are best to assist you and what will work best for you. I believe you will find that I listen and reflect well on what you are expressing and can help guide you to meeting the agreed upon goals. I like to create a safe place for someone to feel they can express themselves, their thoughts and their feelings. I am empathetic and I believe I connect well with people which helps guide people to reaching their goals. I think it is important to use some humor at times as well
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
The feedback that I most commonly receive is that I create an emotionally safe environment for the people I work with. For the people I work with who stay in therapy and with the process they almost always reach their goals. I am able to establish rapport rather easily and I connect well with people
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work well with people who are motivated and want to work on change. I get a lot of referrals for ages 12 and up and tend to work well with teen girls and young adults. I frequently work with women who have experienced trauma or domestic violence. I also work well with people who don't necessarily feel heard by other people in their lives. I work a lot with people that have depression, anxiety and trauma.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I did my doctoral research and dissertation on CBT and use this in my clinical work. I tend to discuss how past experiences inform and impact on current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
