Hello, I have been working in the mental health field for over 23 years and have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2010. I have worked in multiple settings (outpatient, inpatient, community-based) and with all ages across the spectrum of mental health issues, from severe and persistent mental illness to lifespan adjustment and transition issues, work-related stress, parenting or other relationship stress, etc. I work to help clients gain insight and develop skills for better symptom and life management. I am currently not accepting couples at this time; I am accepting individual adults of all ages at this time.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will be a time to get a sense of who each other is, clarifying styles, preferences, needs, issues, and concerns to be explored. There will be time for any questions and a review of how the therapeutic "container" is held for safety and growth, along with the identification of the specific goals for a collaborative plan for treatment going forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

While I am soft-spoken and gentle energetically, I also can be experienced as direct and fierce, saying the things that can be hard to hear but need to be said. I am comfortable exploring many topics considered taboo in our society and even in our field and work to create an open, non-judgmental explorational environment for deeper and more meaningful access to psychological and emotional material. I have a commitment to helping people see themselves more clearly and work toward greater self-acceptance through this process of becoming more self-aware. We can then make choices that are healthier for us each step of the way as we become more self-empowered and self-actualized. I feel that a great deal of the pain in our experiences comes from not feeling that we can be our authentic selves and be loved as we are. I came from a loving family, but there was a great lack of personal insight and self-awareness which ultimately blocks true understanding and the empathy necessary to foster self-love and overall soul growth -- helping others see these types of dysfunctional dynamics and better navigate them has become my passion.

My treatment methods

Existential

This therapeutic approach works well with individuals to help identify the personal meaning in one's experiences to get to the truths of internal experiencing and one's relationship with the external world in order to increase self-awareness and embrace self-responsibility, self-empowerment, self-agency, and self-acceptance.

Humanistic

As a humanistic therapist, I seek to provide an atmosphere of support, empathy, and trust in which an individual can share their feelings without fear of judgment. Aspects of this approach can help clients remain in touch with their experience "in the moment" and can increase self-awareness and positive growth.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy is a flexible and integrative approach to psychotherapy that allows me to draw on the most effective aspects from across the spectrum of theoretical models and approaches to address each individual client's needs.

Grief Therapy

Grief Therapy can be used not only for the process of grieving when a loved one dies but also for other serious losses in life that cause a huge shift in one's world and helps clients accept and adapt to these foundational shifts that can lead to meaningful new perspectives and relationships with the world and others.

Trauma Informed Care

Being sensitive to clients' experiences, trauma informed therapy recognizes the significance of a strong therapist-client relationship as pivotal in guiding individuals through their journey of healing. This a profound collaborative process where therapists become partners in their clients’ journeys towards healing and growth.
