Hi! My name is Kathleen, but please call me Katie. Are you feeling stuck, unmotivated, or having a hard time making decisions? Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or unsure about your next steps. If you’re looking for extra guidance and support as you navigate life’s challenges, I’m here to help. Together, we’ll explore what’s working in your life and what may need adjusting so you can move toward a healthier, more balanced place. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to meet you where you are in each session by incorporating techniques that fit your unique needs. Life can place a lot of strain on us, and we often neglect ourselves in the process. Taking the step to prioritize your mental health can feel scary, but you don’t have to do it alone. I approach the therapeutic relationship with compassion, respect, and warmth, and I look forward to working alongside you as you build insight, confidence, and meaningful change.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming, conversational space where we begin getting to know each other and identifying what brings you in. I work from a solution-focused perspective with a CBT background, which means we will explore both what’s currently feeling challenging and what’s already working in your life. We’ll look at patterns in thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, while also identifying strengths and practical steps toward the changes you want to see. The first session is also about building our therapeutic relationship. I believe that meaningful progress happens when you feel heard, understood, and supported. I tend to work in a collaborative, discussion-based way rather than a rigid or overly clinical format. We will talk through your goals, clarify what you would like to focus on, and begin outlining a path forward together. You can expect me to show up fully present with your experience in every session. This is a team effort — we work together to process, problem-solve, reflect, and move toward the outcomes that matter most to you. My role is to guide, support, and offer tools and perspective; your role is to bring your lived experience and insight. From the very beginning, we’ll be working side by side in this journey.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

My approach combines and incorporates a variety of techniques that are evidence-based. I find myself utilizing cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, person centered, trauma informed, and solution focused.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the depth of experience I bring and the balance I strive to maintain between practical strategies and meaningful emotional work. I have been in the field for thirteen years, primarily serving adults with substance use disorders, which has given me extensive experience working with complex, layered challenges. Substance use work often intersects with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, and major life transitions, so I am comfortable navigating both the surface concerns and the deeper underlying factors that contribute to them. In addition to addiction work, I have supported clients through a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and significant life changes. This breadth of experience allows me to tailor treatment to each individual rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. What clients often find most impactful is that I combine practical, skill-based tools with compassionate exploration. We work on tangible coping strategies and behavior change while also creating space to process emotions and past experiences. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping clients build insight, resilience, and sustainable change in their lives.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve adults (18+) who are navigating life’s complexities and feeling uncertain about what comes next. Many of my clients are experiencing life transitions or significant changes — whether that’s a career shift, relationship changes, recovery from addiction, grief and loss, or stepping into a new phase of life that feels overwhelming or unclear. I work well with individuals managing depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use concerns, and the emotional weight that often accompanies these experiences. I am especially attuned to people who feel stuck, fearful of failure, unsure about their direction, or anxious about the future. If you find yourself overthinking, questioning your next steps, or feeling pressure to “figure it all out,” we can work through that together. I tend to connect best with clients who are open to reflection and willing to engage in a collaborative process. You don’t have to have everything clearly defined — part of our work can be clarifying your goals — but a willingness to explore patterns, build skills, and move toward change makes our work especially impactful. Whether your goal is symptom relief, greater clarity, healthier coping, or long-term growth, I provide a supportive, structured space to help you move forward with confidence.
