I received my master’s degree from Lesley University in Mental Health Counseling specializing in Music Therapy in 2018. I enjoy my clinical work and value the courage it takes to engage in therapy. I am an outgoing, personable individual, and provide a creative, safe, and welcoming environment for my clients to meet the challenges in life in order to live their best lives. My clients are always eager to do the work in therapy, of course at varying degrees. Therapy is for those who want it and not necessarily those who "need" it. Frankly, I think everyone would benefit from being in therapy but it would not be successful without any investment on their end. If one is not interested or motivated to change, then the tools and techniques I provide will not be able to help you. I can understand when it is difficult to complete tasks or follow up on recommendations that I will suggest, however, once you start the work you will see a difference. My clients often come to me feeling stuck, unsure of themselves, lacking confidence, and struggling to function in their everyday lives. If you are looking to learn more about yourself and how past and/or current issues are impacting you then I am your person!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session is always the intake where I will ask a lot of questions. We will discuss what brings you to therapy and get know one another better. It is important for me to gain an understanding of what is going on, but also to learn more about you as an individual! I try to make the experience as organic and personable as possible. I will also clarify what confidentiality is and the bare bones of what to expect in each session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in varying degrees of level of care: inpatient, school, group home, and outpatient. I believe that these settings have helped me develop my clinical skills and broadened my understanding of life experiences through the lens of others I have worked with/for. My clients always tell me that I don't "talk like a therapist." I meet them where they are at with authenticity and with my humanity. Respectfully I am upfront and forward with my clients. The sessions we engage in will always be to your benefit and I strive to challenge each of my clients with what they can handle in the moment.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I have been utilizing the ARC model (Attachment, Regulation, and Competency) for over six years with a variety of clients from the ages of 4 and up. This model is a trauma-based model that was originally intended for children and adolescents, however I have found that it also helps adults heal their inner child through its methodology. Through this model, we analyze your history (relationships, behaviors, thought patterns), develop regulation strategies for every day battles, and build competency through executive functioning skills, self confidence, and so on. My clients have found success in this model where they have built a better understanding of themselves so they may live a more functional and comfortable life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT has been a staple in the therapy world for decades. This method works well with the ARC model when we are looking at connecting your past and current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My clients who struggle with trauma, anxiety, depression, and mood outbursts or impulsivity, have found this method helpful. When we understand ourselves, we feel more confident and lead a more fulfilling life.

Psychoeducation

Another part of understanding one self is also learning more about psychology and how the mind works, why humans behave in various ways, body chemistry, etc. Humans are creatures of habit and establish maladaptive behaviors through trial and error. Understanding what is anxiety/trauma responses/depression/etc, can bring compassion for ourselves and others, which therefore will decrease moments of dysregulation usually triggered by lacking understanding.

Strength-Based

Everyone is different! Everyone has different strengths, interests, hobbies, likes/dislikes, etc. Building on one's strengths and interests helps motivate my clients in seeing the change that they have always had within themselves. Making a treatment plan special to each of my clients is very important to me!

Trauma Informed Care

Trauma is my number one specialty. I believe everyone has experienced some form of trauma in their life, and with "trauma" being such a heavy word, most people do not believe this. I always approach my clients, new and continuous, with a trauma lens to help them as best as I possibly can.
